June 15, 2024

Port Moody

British Columbia - Michelle Reed and A.L. Fortune will be hosting the 2025 British Columbia Provincial Championships in Enderby, BC on Saturday May 3rd. Ensembles can look forward to a fun weekend with dinner, a dance, and of course, lots of drumline. After 10 years of coming all the way out to the valley, the CDA is proud to say that the interior is finally getting their moment to host, and hopefully involve a number of new teams looking to join from the interior. If you are having difficulty making it out to Salmon Arm for this event, please contact either Michelle Reed or Corey Smith to help coordinate buses, hotels, and equipment!

Two New Event Styles Announced in BC

October 1, 2024

Port Moody

British Columbia - There will be two new offerings from the CDA in British Columbia this year: a retreat style Pro-D workshop and a festival style "Drumline Intensive". For the Pro-D Workshop, directors and one (max two) students will have the opportunity to sit in with an established drumline program while a CDA certified clinician works with them for the day. Although the workshop will be mostly observational, directors and students are welcome to get hands on and grab a drum to join the ensemble for their exercises, although the focus will be on watching the clinician work with the students to bring home techniques for the director's own ensembles to use. For the Drumline Intensive days, the CDA is offering an event where pods of 3 drumlines will perform (like they would for a regional or provincial competition), but after their pod has finished, they will get workshops with the adjudicators in each of the captions while the other participating drumline watch. Keep an eye out in the calendar for a local workshop like this coming your way!
